Day 22 in the ICU...

Hello?  Is anyone out there?  I wouldn't be surprised if all my followers jumped ship, because... whew... I've been M.I.A like no other!  :)

Even though this is my blog about kindergarten, I can tell you I haven't been doing much any teaching since April 4, 2012.  On that day, my dad was rushed to the ER with trouble breathing, and... here we are on the 27th... 23 days later... and he's still in ICU.

I can't even begin to describe the roller coaster ride I've been on over the past 3 weeks.  Is it congestive heart failure?  Is it pneumonia?  Is it this?  Is it that?  It took, no lie, 19 days to get an official diagnosis of... BOOP.     Learn about BOOP here!  In all seriousness, it has a ridiculous name, but it is a serious and rare lung disease.  This, of course, is on top of the Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma they are treating.

He was intubated.  (Boo!)
He now has a traecheostomy.  (Boo!)
He is on a ventilator, but breathing on his own with assistance. (Boo and yea!)
He finally is being weaned off the sedative.  (That Michael Jackson stuff is tough to shake!)
When I said hi, he mouthed the word "hi!" to me!  (Yea!  Yea! Yea!)
He wiggled some toes today.  (Yea!)

I have had amazing colleagues cover me for the past two weeks.  Not a lesson plan was written or homework packet was created by these worried hands.  I cannot even begin to thank them for their help through all of this!  I'm back in the saddle, making my own sub plans for next week and then returning back to the classroom the 1st full week in May.

I even stopped by to see my little ones today.  I needed those hugs from them as much as they needed to see me and know everything was going to be okay.  One of them even said, "Every night, we pray for your dad, Mrs. Davis."  I love those kindergarten kiddos so much!

I can't wait to peruse and catch up while I plan my upcoming few weeks!  Thank you for all your prayers through all this insanity... they are appreciated & still needed!

Well, I've been missing in action again.  This is the 1st time in five days that I've had the opportunity or mental capacity to even look at Blogger.

The quicker I make this update, the better... my pops is in the ICU.  (Boo!)  He is quite sick, including pneumonia and a possible blood infection.  (Double boo!)  He is on a ventilator.  (Triple boo!)  He does not have any heart problems.  (Yea!)  He does not have ARDS.  (Yay!)  But, he is in critical condition, and I just want him better.

So, I'm soliciting... soliciting for prayer!  I will take any and all prayers you can send.  Prayer for his lungs to heal.  Prayer for his strength.  Prayer for strength for us.

I spent four hours getting things ready for this week, and I am so blessed that my "go to sub" and close friend is subbing for me this week.  Whew.  One less thing for me to worry about.

So, I asked for a longer spring break, and now I have it.  I just wish it wasn't under these circumstances.  Argh!  I will check in later this week, and maybe I'll even get to creating some things as I sit at the hospital.
Did you know sitting at the hospital is EXHAUSTING?  I never knew.  Fonts & clip art will keep me awake and sane! :)

So, what do you think?  I have to get your honest to goodness, lay it all on the line opinion about the precious new blog layout that was created for me by Pamela at...

The Posh Box Web and Blog Designs

Isn't it snazzy?  Isn't it super?  Isn't it serendipitous?  I love it, and I think it suits me to a T!  I have to brag on Pamela for her AMAZING customer service, during a giveaway no less!  If this is the attention I get for a FREE layout, I can only imagine what it would be like if I were a paying customer.  Pamela and The Posh Box rock!  Check out her website, blog options, and all her design wonderment!  Thanks so much, Pamela!

In Kindergarten land, it's a countdown to Spring Break a 4 day weekend.  No, I'm not complaining.  I will take any days off that I can have.  (... as we have had NO snow days...)  We have our (drum roll please) Easter Egg Hunt tomorrow!  Um, this is what happens when you send out a general note home about needing some eggs for the hunt...

Um.  Anyone have any guesses how many eggs that is?  And, I cannot believe I counted ALL of them!  Thank goodness for skip counting!  427 eggs later... my students will be getting 20 eggs... each... during the hunt!  They are going to go berserk!  And, I love it!

Okay dokay!  I hope you like the new layout!  I l-o-v-e it!  Let me know what you think.  And, should I have a giveaway in my new layout's honor?  Let me know what you think about that too!

Currently... April!

I am on the ball today!  Look!  It's April 1st, and I'm linking up with

for her monthly "Currently" Linky Party.
Check out what I'm up to, and link up with Farley as well!

Okay.  I'm going to go from thinking about going and getting into my bed, into actually getting in my bed!  I need to get a few more hours of relaxation in before we start another week in kindergarten.  I hope you're enjoying your weekend and are ready for a great first week of April!
